Brain Drain in Malaysia

Malaysia is having problem with a brain drain nowadays. Many of our professional such as doctors and  engineers are leaving the country to work at other countries such as Singapore, Brunei and others.
According to the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) quoted in the story, there are 785,000 Malaysians who work overseas, and an estimated two out of every three among them are likely to be professionals. The MEF added that of the Malaysian professionals who work abroad, 44 per cent are in Singapore and 28 per cent in other parts of Asia, with the rest residing in other parts of the world.

More than 2,500 engineering graduates from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia leave the country to work at Singapore every year. This was admitted by the UTM vice chancellor himself, Prof Datuk Dr. Zaini Ujang. He also said that Singapore companies headhunt the graduates right after graduation.

Sime Darby

Sime Darby is a very big government linked company (GLC), which is among the top, who compete with the PETRONAS, Maybank, TNB, CIMB and so on. The Sime Darby that we see today is a result of gigantic merger between the old Sime Darby, Golden Hope and Guthrie in 2007, which give birth to the world’s largest plantation based corporation.
However, this company has also developed many business divisions instead of the core plantation and this including Energy and Utilities, Property, Healthcare, Automotive and Industrial. Sime Darby is now a massive company with having around 100,000 employees working in 20 different countries worldwide. So don’t be surprised if u get to know that the CEO of this company, Dato’ Ahmad Zubir Mursyid, is among the highest paid CEO in Malaysia which salary is RM2millions annually.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of talks about Sime Darby lately regarding to losses of huge sum of money which is amount RM1.6billions, where RM1billions is expected to book from the losses in its third quarter result. These losses was regarding to the projects in the Middle East as well as the Bakun hydroelectric dam project in Sarawak. This project is under conglomerate’s energy and utilities division.

GAMBLING LICENSE

90. O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan'shandwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.

Finally the government has approved the sports gambling license to the Berjaya Corporation Bhd.
Wait, did I just said the government has approved the gambling license in this country?
Well u can read it here.
The only reason why they approved it just because they want to stop the illegal sports gambling from keep operating, which in other words, the government want to stop it because the illegal gambling does not bring money to the government, so they want to do something to bring the money to them.
Then they came up with what they people called as a ‘brilliant’ idea.

Learn from Zimbabwe

Malaysia is now arrived at one point or one phase of serious morale damage where the bribery is so high, from low ranking to the highest ranking, the corruption is everywhere, where people have no more shame doing it publicly.
Day by days hundreds of cases is reported in newspapers about this misbehave of taking bribe. People nowadays no more think about halal and haram. No more think where the money came from. No more think the sources of money that they buy food to feed their families. All these people only think about is just to have a lot of money in an easy way.
Have we ask ourselves, where is our integrity?
If these things keep happening without taking any prevention steps, we afraid something bad might happen to our country. It’s not impossible that any country might fall someday if the system of the particular country is badly corrupt. We should learn from history. We don’t want to be like the famous Zimbabwe story, in the African continent where the system was so damaged and corrupted until the continent was fall badly.
